近日,Accounts of Chemical Research(《化学研究评述》)以“Strong Acids or Bases Displaced by Weak Acids or Bases in Aerosols: Reactions Driven by the Continuous Partitioning of Volatile Products into the Gas Phase”为题,在线发表了北京理工大学化学与化工学院张韫宏团队的综述文章,讨论了气溶胶体系中弱酸(弱碱)置换强酸(强碱)的独特现象。
        气溶胶体系的物理化学性质与体相溶液相比,具有很大的差异。表现在气溶胶是一个多相分散系统,凝聚相时刻与气相发生能量和物质交换。气溶胶颗粒往往尺寸微小,具有较大的比表面积,与体相体系相比,在动力学上气溶胶颗粒内的组分更容易与气相达到分配平衡。国内的贺泓团队、葛茂发团队以及国外的A. Laskin团队等,就发现了大气颗粒物中有机弱酸(乙二酸、丙二酸等)置换无机强酸(盐酸、硝酸),引起了氯损耗、硝酸盐损耗问题,本团队也观察到有机弱碱(丁二酸钠、丙二酸钠等)置换中强碱(氨),引起铵损耗现象。
      这篇文章分析了一种多相体系中发生的热力学和动力学过程。体相不能发生的弱酸置换强酸、弱碱置换强碱的热力学过程,在气溶胶体系中,如果考虑到多相过程,强酸或者强碱存在挥发性时,这个事儿是可以发生的,热力学上是允许的,这是第一点。第二点,这是个动力学控制的过程,由于气溶胶分散到无限大的气相中,挥发速度依赖于气溶胶的半径,半径越小,置换的速度越快。第三,结构要求,这个挥发性的物质,是不带电荷的,是中性分子,比如说氨气或者氯化氢或者硝酸,它们是以中性分子形式进入气相的,但是它们在溶液中是带电荷,分别是铵离子、氯离子、或者是硝酸根离子。所以,这些离子要么就是脱掉一个氢离子,要么就是拿到一个氢离子,变成中性分子,进入气相。拿到一个氢离子也好,脱掉一个氢离子也好,它们对体相的PH缓冲区间有要求,这个缓冲区间的任务由弱酸或者弱碱承担,所以,溶液相中还必须有缓冲的酸碱对儿,保证恢复持续进行。
       总的来说,气溶胶中发生的这些独特的反应过程,对深入理解大气气溶胶的老化过程及相关物种的大气循环具有重要意义。本文的第一作者是北京理工大学博士生陈哲,青年教师刘湃建立了动力学模型,定量分析了置换反应中气溶胶的尺寸效应,加之与科罗拉多大学(丹佛)刘勇教授多次讨论和共同撰稿,得以完成本工作。
        本研究得到了国家自然科学基金委重大研究计划(91544223)的资助。
